Genre video game fighting developed by Midway games in 1992, Mortal Kombat was in the early nineties one of the most worthy rivals of Capcom's Street Fighter II.

Published on numerous consoles and home computers, including the Sega Mega Drive, Mortal Kombat boasted innovative gameplay and graphics that, while not everyone's liking, won over the majority of the audience. The name of the game comes from the martial arts tournament open to all that takes place every generation.

The best warriors in the world therefore come to compete to try to win the title of absolute champion. But hardly anyone imagines that the tournament is actually a means by which the Outworld can take over the world. Place of the challenge is the island of Shang Tsung, a sorcerer as powerful as he is evil, who through arcane spells has deceived death and managed to steal the secrets to take possession of the souls of others.
To characterize in particular Mortal Kombat was the widespread violence, with duels that often ended with bloody and almost splatter moves, very often destined for censorship.

At the Story Line screen, press A, B, A, C, A, B and B to activate blood mode.

In the initial options screen, press DOWN, UP, LEFT, LEFT, A, RIGHT, DOWN to activate cheat mode.
