Minecraft is a strange but wonderful world. There is always something new to discover.  Once you’ve got the basics down and really started to delve into the mechanics of Minecraft, enchantments become very important. That’s why we’re going to tell you how to get the Riptide enchantment in Minecraft and what it’s for.

Getting Riptide in Minecraft

Riptide is an enchantment that can be placed on a Trident. It cannot be placed on top of another item, so make sure you have a Trident first.

Once you’ve done this, you’ll want to head to an enchantment table and interact with it. Place your Trident next to three lapis lazuli in the Enchantment menu boxes.

You will now see three different enchantments appear. The number on the right indicates the amount of experience points you need to unlock and view the enchantment. The higher the number of experience points needed to unlock the enchantment, the better.

There is a bit of luck involved in enchanting a Trident this way, but since there are only a handful of enchantments for a Trident, with a bit of luck you’ll unlock Riptide quickly.

What does the Riptide enchantment do?

As we noted earlier in our list, the Riptide enchantment is a great way to get around. All you have to do is cast your enchanted Riptide Trident while standing in the rain or water and you will be propelled to where it is cast.

How to use Riptide in Minecraft

To use Riptide on your Trident, make sure the enchantment has been placed on your Trident. When you’ve done that, go out in the rain or find some water to hold onto.

Then aim your Trident as you normally would and cast it. You will now be pulled behind your Trident, wherever it goes.
