Crystalis, which in Japan is known as God Slayer: Haruka Tenkū no Sonata, is a action RPG / action-adventure genre video game published in 1990 by SNK to Nintendo Entertainment System.
Although at the time of its release Crystalis was not considered one of the essential titles to play if you owned a NES, in more recent times it has become a real cult. The video game begins with a man who wakes up from a cryogenic sleep, about 100 years after the outbreak of a nuclear war.
Although he is unable to remember his name and where he came from, he soon discovers that he is the key to the planet's salvation. Aided by 4 wise old men and a mysterious woman, he faces the evil Draygonia Empire. The gameplay of Crystalis is similar to that of other RPGs, with the player being able to move smoothly in 8 directions using the pad. There are two actions that can be performed: with one button you attack with the sword, while with the second you perform a chosen action, for example using a spell or an object.
Using the START and SELECT buttons, on the other hand, opens the status screen and the inventory menu, respectively. In addition to all this, we can equip our hero with various types of armor and shields. By defeating monsters experience and levels are gained, resulting in increased energy, defense and attack.
